Alchemy Fine Arts owner Kate Wood will present a special, single-session workshop on The Art and Science of Color Mixing for Oil Painters at the Artist’s Nook in Stuart, FL, on Sunday, November 10, 2024.
As a professional art instructor with twenty-five years of teaching experience, Kate will provide expert insight on how to master color theory to mix natural colors for oil painting. During this workshop, she will also explain and demonstrate color coding and chemical coding for oil paints, as well as the history of art pigments.
Kate’s will also explain how paint chemistry works and which pigments to avoid (in order to ensure the lasting beauty of your oil paintings). During this hands-on workshop, students will make a useable color chart they can keep for future reference.

Titanium White, Cadmium Yellow Light without zing (read fine print on tube), Yellow Ocher, Cadmium Red Light or Grumbacher (Napthol) Red, Thalo Rose, Sap Green, Thalo Green, Ultramarine Blue, Thalo Blue, Burnt Sienna, Burn Umber, One other pigment of your choice (Diox Purple, Cad Orange, Cerulean Blue, etc.)
